Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

clockwork angelI absolutely loved this book! I give it 5/5 stars because I love anything Cassandra Clare publishes. This is the first book in the Infernal Devices Trilogy by Cassandra Clare, a prequel to the Mortal Instruments. This is my second time reading it but it is my first time listening to it. I enjoyed Jennifer Ehle’s narration but I did not enjoy the way she portrayed Gabriel Lightwood. I found it quite annoying. In this book, we follow Tessa Gray during her journey of meeting the Shadowhunters. Here is the blurb from the back of the book:

When Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother in Victorian England, something terrifying is waiting for her in London’s Downworld. Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, who are members of a secret organization called the Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she has the power to transform into another person. The Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa’s power for his own. Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons. She soon finds herself fascinated by- and torn between-two best friends: James and Will. As Tessa is drawn deep into a plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, she realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the worlds . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

I relate most to Tessa because of her love of reading. I do enjoy this love triangle because Jem, Will, and Tessa are my some of my favorites in the Shadowhunters universe. It is also interesting to read about Magnus’s past before he met Alec.

I love Will Herondale so much, even more than Jace. His overall character development is great. I also have a love for Jem, too. He is so sweet and kind.

I highly recommend this book especially is you like historical fiction! Right now I am listening to Clockwork Prince. I do recommend reading this book before you read City of Fallen Angels because events will be spoiled for you.
